Hattie Lee (Peters) Clark

Spread the love

This is my mother, the late Hattie Lee Peters Clark.  Mama was born May 5, 1915, in Oak Bowery, Alabama, to Mary Willis Peters who was the daughter of John Clark Peters and granddaughter of Jim and Sarah Peters. She always said she did not have a father, though we all know she did.  According to her application for marriage license, she stated that her father was James Sherriell.   I am SO GRATEFUL TO MY COUSIN BEATRICE COLEY, for providing me with the documentation that verifies for me, who my grandfather was….  Thank you Bea, for finally putting my questions to rest.

In 1948, my mother married Wilkie Clark, who was born in Carrollton, Carroll County, Georgia, but his family roots were in Randolph County, Alabama.  I was the only child born to them…  The ONLY CHILD either of them had in the world.

Hattie Lee Peters Clark was one phenomenal woman.  I have managed to maintain a presence for her on the internet.  You are welcome to view my page about my mother at this link.
