For the past 45 going-on 46 years, the Peters-Clements-Gazaway families have met annually on the 3rd weekend in July, to get reacquainted, meet new family members, renew old acquaintances, and stay in touch with their roots which go back to the 1800’s in a place located in East-Central Alabama, known as Oak Bowery, Alabama.
Over the years, they have remained faithful to their ancestral roots, including the desire to learn more about who they are.
Over the years, some very interesting facts have come out of these gatherings. For example, learning that the family church Liberty CME Church in Oak Bowery, was a part of the Underground Railroad.
Each gathering is a new opportunity to learn more about our roots as well as ourselves. We are very proud of our heritage and invite you to join the Peters-Clements-Gazaway family at our next Reunion.
