Ophelia Jackson Peters

Spread the love

Ophelia Jackson Peters born in 1907, was the 2nd wife of Seabon Peters.   Her parents were Eliza Jones and Elbert Jackson.   According to census records from Anniston, Alabama, Seabon’s first wife Cora Summers Peters, died in 1924.  At that time, Seabon was probably about 38 years old.   A few years afterward, Seabon hooked up with Ophelia and married her.

6 years after Cora’s death In 1930, at about age 46, Seabon (now spelled” Ceburn” is married to a 22 year old Ophelia and he has a 13-year-old (Rachel) and a 9-year old (Ceburn, Jr.)  So this tells me that when Cora died, he already had Rachel and Ceburn, Jr.  the children were 6 and 3 at that time.   So, Ophelia is a step-mother to these children.

The 1929 City Directory for Anniston, shows Seabon with his second (2nd) Wife, Ophelia, living on 422 South Christine Avenue, Anniston.

The record shows that Ophelia died January 13, 1935 in Anniston, Hobson City, Alabama.  She is buried in Hobson City, Alabama.   Her age at death was 26.  The record shows that at her time of death, she was residing at 319 G Street in Anniston, Alabama, which is precisely the same address where my mother’s family was living in Anniston, Alabama.

There are many many questions that could be further explored about this entire situation.
