GOD Called Her Home

As we listen to the news each day and the number of coronavirus cases reported continue to rise, we think to ourselves how sad it is and we try to do all that we can to stay “safe.”

Mom, practicing safety as she went out and about, only for the necessities- groceries and her monthly pharmacy visit, was stricken with the dreaded coronavirus or Covid-19. How could this be? She’d put on a long sleeve shirt when she went out, latex gloves, 2 masks; she’d even bought a shield. She made sure she kept Lysol and hand sanitizer close by. She was always very mindful, because she was afraid of not taking every precaution to avoid this virus because, after all, she had underlying health issues. Well, let me tell you…that’s not always enough.

What I have quickly been reminded of is this, GOD is omnipotent and He is in total and complete control and His will shall be done. When He’s ready for you to join Him, He simply calls you home.

Mom, went into the hospital in early August and stayed in for 22 days. She was released and went back in on my birthday, August 31st. We all spoke with her everyday and was able to video call so we could see her.

After weeks, which turned into a couple of months total, our Father called her to rest. September 28, 2020 at 6:30, my mother had taken her last breath and life as I and my brothers have known it, was forever changed.

We will certainly miss her. Words cannot convey the depth of what we’re feeling at this moment. But, we know that we are not alone, as we struggle to grasp our new reality of life without “Our Angel” because GOD called her home.

We are now in contact with them, and praying for the opportunity to get to know each other. Their family arises from Preston and Charlotte Peters.

Father George Harold Clements, Beloved Family Priest to be Memorialized in Chicago This Sunday

Father George Harold Clements

This week many of us are making final preparations to travel to Chicago, Illinois to be part of the Memorial Service planned for our beloved family priest Father George Harold Clements.

Despite the scores of prayers of family members and friends all across the country, in humble submission to the perfect will of God, Father Clements passed away on November 25, 2019 in Chicago, IL.

Nationally celebrated for his role as a beloved Pastor, visionary leader in the Catholic Church, trendsetter, change agent, Civil Rights Activist and Community Father, OUR FAMILY will gather on January 26, in Chicago, not only to pay our respects to the phenomenon that he was, but to celebrate someone we hold very near and dear, by virtue of kinship, shared family heritage, shared family values, and plain and simply put — love.

For us, Father Clements was much more than an “Iconic Priest” or a Celebrity. He is a man with whom we share blood relationship — hence we have been afforded many precious and rare opportunities to fellowship and commune with him in private settings, family outings, festive family gatherings and experience his witness as one who demonstrated a very deep and abiding love and appreciation for who he was, from whence he came, and witness his determination to maintain the strong family ties that bind us together.

Although he has reunited with our ancestors we cherish the opportunity to come together one more time to remember those many special moments in time we shared with him over the years.

The Memorial Service will be held at the St. Sabina Catholic Church, 1210 West 78th Place, Chicago, IL 60620, on Sunday, January 26, 2020 — Father’s birthday. The time is 2:00 pm.

Very detailed information about the upcoming memorial for Father Clements can be obtained on the Peters-Clements-Gazaway family facebook page at the following link. Please visit this link for travel information, hotel information, and a flier detailing the upcoming event .
