Daughter of Desabee and Agnes Peters.   According to the 1930 Census, Montie (misspelled) was 6 years old at the time, meaning she was probably born in 1923.   According to the record, she had two conflicting birthdates.

Later on, after locating the obituary of her oldest brother, Desabee Thaddeus Harold Peters, Jr. I was able to correct the information about Montee and learned that she was a daughter, versus the census that reported her as a son.   She was married to Raymonde Odom, Sr.

She was issued a social security number in Alabama in 1954.

Her death, was recorded in the Atlanta-Journal-Constitution (5-21-1998).  At the time of her death, Montee Peters Odom was residing in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia.

Joana Peters is (one of) the ancestral matriarch of our family.  She and Jim Peters, had several sons (John Clark, , and two daughters. There is not a whole lot of information about her on record.

Through research done by Beatrice Coley, it was discovered that Joana (Johnnie K) really was not the birth mother of John Clark, Jim, Harold, James Harlin, Preston and Sweed.   She was the mother of children Ida and Seabon Peters who were fathered by Great Great Grandfather Jim Peters (1st Generation).

Jim Peters is probably the Jim Peters who is the Patriarch of this family. He was said to have been born around 1853 in Georgia. Later moved to Oak Bowery, Alabama. Could he be the son of the White slave-owner Jim Peters, who fathered a child by his Negro Slave “Sarah?” I honestly don’t know.
